After the Proposal

Start planning your wedding as soon as you get that proposal! You can create physical mood boards or even digital ones, like you see on Pinterest. It is important to do certain parts early, as other couples might be wanting the same exact things you do.

Wedding Date

First, choose a wedding date. You would be surprised how fast venues can book! Consider a date that is significant to you, or even a time of year. Maybe you want to avoid the colder months, if that is the climate you will be getting married in. Or maybe you want the cooler months, if you live in a hotter climate. Rain is also an important factor to consider. Whatever the case, it’s up to you and your significant other to choose!

Budget

Next, it’s time to budget. Decide how much you are willing to spend on your big day. This is a really important step to do in the very beginning. If you have to push the wedding back to save some more funds, then that is what you have to do. If there is something you really want to have, but need a little bit more cash, don’t be afraid to push it back for what you really want.

Venue

Then you will choose your wedding venue. That’s a no brainer, The Venue Fort Lauderdale of course! Venues book up fast if it’s a popular date, so it is important to lock that in quickly. For instance, dates like 11/11 or 12/31 will certainly be in high demand. What’s available one day might not be available the next.

Guest List

There is no right or wrong number of guests for your wedding. It all comes down to what you can afford and who you truly want to share this momentous occasion with. Think about who absolutely needs to attend your wedding. This is usually your parents, siblings, grandparents, and best friends. You can also check with these guests to see if they are available on some of your potential wedding dates. These people could also have some important prior obligations. Consider having your wedding on a weekday night to be able to accommodate everyone, if they are mostly local. Guest lists can also be cut to save some money. That is why it is good to pick out those non-negotiable people in the beginning. Be mindful of the guests that you are letting have a plus 1, as well as kids that will need to attend. This will add to your growing guest count. (See our previous blog about plus one etiquette)

Vendor Selection

After all of these tasks, you will then pick a photographer and videographer. These will get booked up fast, so it is important to do as soon as you get your venue and date. This is especially true if it is a popular date. If you like their style, and they are within your budget, book them! If you need a planner, they will have to be aware of all of your wishes early on as well. Here at The Venue Fort Lauderdale, we have an in-house planner to help you every step of the way!
